Florida Medicaid’s Covered Services and HCBS Waivers
State Mental Health Hospital Services
Medicaid reimburse for state mental health hospital services that provide room and board, and long-term inpatient mental health services which include the following services:
- Clinical therapy
- Incontinence supplies
- Medical
- Medical equipment
- Nutritional
- Personal care
- Pharmaceutical
- Psychiatric
- Rehabilitation, restoration, and recovery
This service is not one of the minimum covered services for all health plans serving Medicaid enrollees.
Eligibility
Florida Medicaid recipients requiring medically necessary mental health state hospital services who meet the following criteria:
- Are age 65 years and older
- Meet the Medicaid Institutional Care Program eligibility requirements
- Meet state mental health hospital level of care criteria
Have a written order for state mental health hospital services from a licensed doctor of medicine or osteopathy with specialized training and experience in the diagnosis and treatment of mental illness in accordance with coverage and limitation requirements
