This webpage was created for the Blood Clot and Pulmonary Embolism Policy (BCPEP) workgroup. This act is cited as the “Emily Adkins Prevention Act.” The Secretary of Health Care Administration and the State Surgeon General share responsibility for the workgroup.
The BCPEP workgroup is charged with developing a risk surveillance system and policy recommendations to improve standards of care, surveillance, detection, treatment, and patient and family education relating to blood clots and pulmonary embolisms.

Member Appointment Process
It is the responsibility of the State Surgeon General to appoint the Chair of the workgroup. The President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives shall each appoint two members to the workgroup. All appointed panel members are to complete in its entirety the Member Appointment Questionnaire, and submit it to the Agency by emailing it to [email protected].
